Project Paranormal: Carol Theater - 8/8/02

My first experiment was to leave a video camera rolling inside the Carol Theater for fifteen minutes. This was done at night after the show was over. With all the lights off, I invited any spirits present to communicate through the camera.

The first strange thing that happened was that the camera shut off immediately after I offered this invitation. The camera automatically shuts off if it's on but not recording for five minutes, which is probably what happened. It's still a little spooky that it would shut off right then.

After starting the camera, I left the building for fifteen minutes. During this time, nothing interesting was captured on film. However, when I returned, I decided to pick up the camera while it was still rolling and film the wall behind where the camera had been sitting. I didn't observe anything strange at the time, but the camera did. I was standing about five feet from the wall at the back of the theater (opposing the movie screen). The tape shows an unexplained spot of light that fades in for a couple seconds before disappearing. The light is accompanied by an unexplained sound (sounds like someone dialing an old rotary phone). You have to listen closely to hear it. It's not much of a sighting, but it's interesting because I can't think of anything in the room that could have thrown light on the back wall. The only lights on in the room were the exit signs and there is no light on the camera I was using. During filming, I did not see the light or hear the sound. Watch and listen: Low Quality | High Quality The clip first shows the two exit signs at the front of the theater as I turn the camera around. Then as I film the wall, the unexplained light can be seen.
